Surfs up dawg!

I'm pretty certain that I have gills. Yep, that's right. Gills like a fish. Because just like a fish, I LOVE to swim! If you've been around this blog for a while you definitely remember my first trip to the beach. And then there was the pool. And of course Belize was great for really polishing my skills. But lately I've been confined to the fountains in central park that I illegally take a dip in from time to time.

Well little did I know, but mami and papi were missing the water just as much as I was! So sunday morning we woke up bright and early, packed up Dewey and off we went. I had no idea where we were going, but I was happy to see that some of their friends were coming along too - Yaelle, Quincy, Brandon, Matt, Luisa and their doggies too! We drove for what seemed like forever (really only an hour or two) and when they finally opened the doors guess what I saw!

Yipee Skippy! The ocean!

It was a different ocean than I remember from Belize, but that didn't matter so much to me. There was water!! I took off for the shore, but quickly stopped in my tracks and ran for some shelter. The black sand is really hot - even at 9 o'clock in the morning! After cooling my wittle paws off a bit papi helped me hurry down to the water where we splashed and splashed and chased some sticks around with Mina, Konga & Xela.

After mami and papi slathered themselves in sunblock, we hit the water! They thought I was gonna be scared because of the big waves (like I was my very first time) but I wasn't at all (well maybe just a little bit.....shhh!). I held my head up high, turned my backside to the big waves and blew air out my nose if little water splashed in! Within no time I was fearless, diving into the waves and letting the water carry me away. Oh how I love the ocean! I hope papi changes his mind about Colorado and takes me & mami to a place a little closer to the beach!

And when it was all over, I went crazy rolling around in the sand.

And this was me, later that night after my bath & blow dry.
(Mami hates to see me shiver, so sometimes she helps me dry out!)
I sure do love swimming, even if it wipes me out!
