I'm sorry, so sorry

It's pretty obvious that my mami thinks I'm an angel most days.

And really for the most part, I am.

However, I had a bit of a hard day last week.

It all started when mami and papi left me home alone for the whole day while they were working - something they rarely do. Paps had to work on his newest water system and mami had a team, so I was left to my own devices (napping, gnawing on my stick, & hanging out with my pals) at the house. They said it would be good practice for when they leave for a long vacation in a few weeks and my friends Alan & Louise come to take care of me and live with us.

Mami was sweet and came back to visit me in the late morning and she even brought me a few visitors from her team. Papi came back at the end of the day too and took me for a walk in Antigua to see Dr. Sican. Then Sergio came for my lessons. Afterwards papi left us for a night out with the boys and mami got on the phone and called grandmami & grandpapi. That's when the trouble began.

Mami was yaking & yaking with her mami and papi about my new little niece that is coming and I guess I got jealous. I didn't mean to hurt my mami's things, but when I realized that papi had left the closet door open I got a little curious. Mami has some really pretty things in there and I came across a super cute pair of silver puma ballet slippers......and couldn't stop myself. I ate one of them right up!

Wow, when mami noticed what had happened she was NOT happy. After she cooled off, we had a talk about how I acted inappropriately. I felt bad and tried to cuddle up to mami. She shared with me that she wasn't too mad because those shoes hurt her feet anyway, but even so I wasted her money.....the money she needs to buy my food.

I'm sorry mami. I love you and hope that you can forgive me. And I'm going to make papi take me shopping for some new cute shoes for your birthday tomorrow. I promise. Afterall, he owes you too - he shouldn't have left the closet door open!

My other guy

I have decided that it's time to tell you about a special guy in my life. I've been keeping him a secret for quite a while now, but it's time to let cat out of the bag (why was that poor cat in the bag anyway?).

Here are some clues.

He's not my papi.
He's not one of my doggie pals.
He's a man.
A real human man.
He's my Profi.
My trainer, Don Sergio.

I started working with him nearly 3 months ago and boy have I gotten smart in that time! Twice a week he comes by the house to pick me up for our date and then he and I walk the neighborhood for a half hour. Recently mami & papi have been joining us in our lessons. Profi teaches them how to give me my commands. They aren't quite as good at it as me, but I cut them some slack since they're not professionals.

My profi uses words (in English....even though I'm bilingual) and hand signals. Together with him I have learned how to walk nicely to the left side of my parents, sit, stay, lay, sit again and come. Of course we practice when I'm out and about with mami and papi, but we've worked it out so that I don't always have to be on my very best behavior. There are certainly times when I'm less than thrilled to get to work with Profi, but then I remember that he always has a pocketful of treats, so I usually come out from under the table and let them have their way.

(that's me helping my papi practice)

We're gonna keep working with Profi for a while. Just to make sure I'm good and obedient. I've never been too much trouble, but mami says nobody likes a big dog that's out of control. And in this house, what mami says, goes. Got that papi?

Oh baby baby!

Guess what?? I'm gonna be an Auntie! No, not a sister.....an auntie! My grandmami & grandpuppy are having a little puppy girl!

She doesn't have a name yet, but there are lots of ideas. Some of which were also ideas for my name! My baby is also gonna look a little like me because she's part Golden and part Poodle - a Goldendoodle! Her mami's name is Sally Jo and she was the only girl in a litter of 5.

Here's her picture.....isn't she so cute??

She arrives next Tuesday night at the Pittsburgh International Airport where grandmami and gradpuppy will be waiting to pick her up. They are soooooooooooooo excited! And me too! I've been wanting a baby of my own for quite a while now and since mami and papi have explained to me the importance of patience, I've tried not to bother them too much, but it looks like my good behavior has paid off! I can't wait to get my paws on her!

Tía Mia. I like the sound of that!

Field Trip!

I just realized that I didn't ever tell you about my Easter. I'm sure you read my mami's blog too, so I won't bore you with more details, but I did want to show you a little of what I saw.

My mami and papi were the coolest, taking me out for long walks even though there were tons of people around. Mami heard that every year at least a couple of chuchos scamper across one of the pretty alfombras and ruin all the hard work. Not me though. I showed them (and all of our neighbors too) that I could be a good little puppy girl....at least when I want to be!

Carne Asada

Remember a while back when I shared with you all of my funny nicknames? Remember that one that wasn't exactly so funny to me - the one that had a little something to do with my bad breath after a meaty bone? Well, last weekend I got to hear it again and again but it was all worth it, since I got a delicious, giant bone to gnaw on! I don't really understand what there is to complain about? My mami & papi like carne asada when they eat it, but just not when I do!

Wettin' My Whistle

It's been really hot out lately and I've been mighty thirsty! Actually even when it's not so hot outside, I'm always up for a drink from the hose especially during watering time!

Mi papito

Guess what today is? It's my papi's birthday! Today my papi turns 33. That's a good age for a papi, I think. Not too young and independent (where I might get left home alone a lot) and not too old and tired (I really like it when he plays chase with me). Even though I've only know my papi for the 7 months that I've been alive, it's been a really great 7 months. Mami seems to think that he's pretty special too, and we all know that I take after my mami!

Me & paps took a photo with the concrete guy who is always waiting on the other side of the parkway, when we cross the street. I'm not sure how he seems to know that we're coming, but he's always there!

My favorite place

Hi friends! Today I'm back to work (with my papi) after a nice, long & relaxing 5 day vacation for the Semana Santa. It was great to have mami & papi's undivided attention for so long! We spent our days relaxing at home, walking around town, looking at alfombras and processions, and hanging out at the Earth Lodge. But I'd have to say my most favorite place that I went was right here.....

Yep, that's right - my mami's lap.

What can I say?
I'm a mama's girl & not ashamed to tell you!

Hippity Hop

Who knew that little hopping insects could be so much fun?

Sadly my little friend made his way "home" after our play date, but he was sure a good sport for the 20 minutes he lasted!
