In search of the spirit

Since it's my first Christmas I haven't been quite sure about what to expect.

1st mami put up some really cool decorations, but she gets mad at me everytime I get near them. Then mami & papi had a party with lots of yummy treats. I tried my hardest to sneak some goodies, but I only managed to get away with a mini cheesecake. Boy oh boy was it sure tastey!

Then mami made me a really pretty accessory. A giant red bow. She tied it on my neck for the party, but it didn't stay there very long.

She put the bow on me again the following evening and we went to the park to listen to some beautiful Christmas music. Want to see?

It was quite fun until the end when they set off really loud and scary fireworks. I'm beginning like this whole Christmas thing....red bow and all. Papi says that next year will be a whole different ballgame and that grandmami will need to knit me a sweater to go along with my red bow. I'm not really sure what he means, but I know I'll like it. I like everything that my papi likes!

Slippin' & Slidin'

WHEEEEEE! When we got home from Xela, after all of those hours in the car, there was a real treat waiting for us. Our house got turned into a swimming pool! Mami and papi didn't think it was so fun, but I did. They said it was a flood that happened because the toilet had a broken pipe. I don't care how it happened, it was so fun! I splash and played in the water while they tried to clean things up, but pretty soon I found myslef back in the car. I guess I was getting in their way. After things were under control, they allowed me to come back inside and help a little more.

I think we're all in agreement that I am a great helper.
What would they have ever done without me?

The Land of Treasures!

Xela, Xela, Xela! (Tee hee hee, I'm just practing my Chicken Bus driver voice!)

After Tejutla, we hit the road bound for Xela, mami & papi's old home. The ride wasn't nearly as long and the good news is that I didn't get sick. Along the way we made a few stops so that I could stretch my legs and use the little girls room.

Papi and I enjoyed the view from outside San Marcos.

Once we got to Xela, the fun began. I didn't realize there would be so many treasures on the street there. Mami & papi called it trash, but I knew better! We kind of had a hard time finding a hotel that would accept me (what's up with that?), so we ended up staying at a cute hostel. Even they said no puppy girls allowed, but they were nice enough to give mami & papi a safe parking space behind a big gate and I slept in the car. Mami was a nervous wreck, but I was really ok. I missed them, but I knew Dewey would keep me safe. Good thing we practiced camping in Esquintla. I knew exactly what to do.

The next day we hit the streets in search of more treasures. Look at what we came across.

Hey guys! Don't worry, you'll find a good home soon.
(and if not, we've got room at our place!)

Escott.
That's the dog from the toilet paper that everyone say looks just like me.
I think I've still got some growing to do!

Of course I got tired and had to take a time out too.

But then we got to meet the guy that mami has been telling me all about.....

Santy Claus!
Mami said she'd help me write my list and Santa reminded me to be nice.
Did you know he is even watching while we are sleeping? (Sounds kind of boring to me!)

The longest trip ever

Recently the mami, the papi & me took a super long road trip - my longest car ride ever! Papi has to go for work and mami and I tagged along just for fun. Once we got there it was pretty fun, but just ask Miss Dani about our car ride and she might tell you differently. I got sick - twice. Mami said it was definitely becuase I was nosing around at a gas station and at the pastor's house and ate some things that I shouldn't have, but nonetheless, I was kind of emabarrassed. Good thing my mami & papi didn't really seem to mind. They still love me just the same.

Everyone thinks it's cute when I get held...I just think it's normal.
They've been doing this since I was little pup.

In the afternoon Alejandro and I laid low in the car.
We had to recover from the long trip.

When we finally got to the place where we spent the night,
I was sooooooo excited to see all this grass.
It might sound strange to you, but at our house we only have stones,
so I think grass is so awesome. I love to roll around in it!

But even better, there was a new friend for me to play with.
He's almost exactly my age. His name is Valiente!

Later that night we had to go back to the water system for the big inaugration.
The people gave me a lot of love there. Mami & papi thought that the people were really kind about having me around.....since pets in Guatemala aren't usually babied quite as much as me!
I got super tired.

And later so did mami,
so she snuck away and napped with me in the car.

It was cold in Tejutla so I helped keep my mami warm. It was the least I could do for her since she always let's me cuddle up next to her in the big bed at home.

Working Girl

I'm back at work with my papi this week. I'm so lucky that he takes me with him. I love my papi so much. He is so nice to me and really handsome too. He built me an awesome playpen just for me (and my new little buddy Gordo sometimes too) at the office! Now I have the freedom to run and play and don't have to be chained up! If he could just get those cars to slow down on the hill outside the wall. It's so loud in my play area Guatemala.

Remember when I was weally wittle and I would wait for papi on top of his bag, just to make sure that he didn't forget me? Well, now I'm not worried about being forgotten, but I do sort of LOVE his blue bag. Actually, when he doesn't have it strapped to his back, I usually watch it weally well for him. I would hate for him to lose that bag too! Sometimes at night I even cuddle up on it. It smells like my papi......mmm, mmm good! Guess you better put a new one on your Christmas list, Pops! One day papi even took me with him while he went out on the job site. He didn't weally have a choice, since it was on the way home. Don't worry, I'm no trouble at all. I know how to stay out of trouble.

Papi, I love you!

Mimi in Wonderland!

Just call me Adventure Puppy Girl from now on. Since our trip to the beach, mami, papi & I have been on the go, go go! Mami's friend Abby had a birthday a couple of weekends ago and we got invited to go to paradise to celebrate. Mami blogged about it here on her site, but I want to tell you what I thought about it too!

We arrived in Esquintla at this amazing castle way after dark. I rode in the back seat with my friends Alan & Louise and did a lot of napping. When we got there though, I got a real treat! Another doggie came along too. My new best girlfriend Chuch! Chuch started out in life on the streets, but not after too long she was rescued by someone and then adpoted by her cool mama, Nitivia. They used to live in Santa Ana close to Antigua, but now they live in Guatemala City. It's ok though, because I'm pretty sure I'll get to see her again soon anyway. Chuch was so much fun! Usually all my friends are lots bigger than me, but not Chuch. She's only a wittle bit bigger. She's so smart (street smart, papi says) and quick. Mami says Chuch is tricky! She doesn't seem to mind at all when I follow her everywhere and she rolls and plays with me and even lets me win sometimes.

So most of the time I played with Chuchie, but there's 1 thing that separates us. Chuch doesn't like the water.....and I think I do! The night we arrived it was really dark. I spent a lot of time exploring the area and checking out the pool. Papi and Alan swam a wittle bit. One time I got a little too curious and fell into the pool. It was ok since I swim, but I needed some help getting out of the pool. That's when mami rescued me, wrapped me in a towel and cuddled with me......it's willy cold when you're wet!

When it was time for bed, everyone else slept in the big castle, but mami & papi & I went camping instead! They said they wanted to get me prepared for our next big adventure to Belize where we will probably go camping. I was so sweepy I didn't even notice that they crawled up top and I stayed down below. In the morning papi woke me up for breakfast!

After we all ate breakfast, we spent the rest of the day lounging poolside. I played with Chuch some more, but we both were pretty tired from all the fun we had the night before. Since Chuchie wanted to nap quite a bit and do some big dog exploring on her own, I played in the water some more. I'm not very confident yet, especially in pools where I can't get out on my own! Mami & papi say that will all change when we go to Belize and have tons of fun in the sun!

Miss Nitivia played with me in the water, since her dog-ter didn't want to get wet!

I hope we get to go back to the castle in Esquintla soon. I think I'd like to do some more camping and swimming!

Please don't go!

Dear Readers,

I'm so very sorry that I've been away for a while. It's been a busy week at our house. Mami & papi have been working & playing really hard and I've been tagging along. I'm going to do my best to catch you up on the adventures of the Lengacher 3 over the next few days, so stay tuned. It will be worth your wait!

XoXo,
Mia

Hang in there!

Sweet Dreams

I'm making my list......

When mami showed me these eco-friendly dog beds that she found online, I just knew I had to have one. Please try to remember that even though I don't always succeed, I'm trying very hard to be nice and not naughty.

I think I prefer the green one please!

Head over Heels

I have a boyfriend. Yep, that's right. I'm in love. At least that is what my mami & his mami think. I suppose I'm too wittle to weally have a boyfriend, but I will say that Don Akira is my best friend. As I grow bigger and bigger, he gets a lot less scary. At first I thought he might squash me the way he jumps like a goat, but now I know he's just happy to see me! I still do a lot of laying on my back while he licks me from head to toe, but sometimes I start stuff too! Look at all the fun we had together this past week (and on Miss Dani's blog here & here).

My 1st kiss

I'm really not scared, I promise.

He licks me all over until I'm sopping wet!

So happy!

Scottie Dog!

Do you recognize this little pup?

Around these parts everyone takes one look at our little Mia and says "eScott" just like the most popular toilet paper brand in Guatemala. We usually just laugh and nod our heads, but it wasn't until recently that we really started to believe it!

Our cute little puppy girl is growing up and getting awfully sneaky. Look at what we came across the other day.

Now do you see the resemblance?

Lazy Sunday

Guess what we did this morning? We slept in - all 3 of us. (Well that is if you don't count the 2 times mami got up to feed me & take me out). My parents are nuts if they think a 3 month old will let them sleep in, but we did have some fun playing in bed together!

Mami let me use her special pillow that's just my size.

This was my view from the pillow.

Yep that's right, I'm smiling.

I love lazy Sundays!

Up, up & away!

The day after we went to the beach, mami's favorite place, papi decided that he wanted to share one of his favorite activities with me......hiking. We went to a place that mami and papi have been talking about for a while. It's called El Pilar and it's right outside of Antigua near mami's work. El Pilar is a ecological park - a big forest with a long, long hiking trail and bunches and bunches of stairs to climb. The sign at the entrance said No Mascotas (no pets), but a nice man in the big cowboy hat let me in anyway. I suppose he couldn't resist my sweetness.... the story of my life!!

We started out checking out some humming birds (Hmmmm? - that's a special joke just for my grandpapi) and then we began the hike. We went up and up and up and up. Papi said he thought that there must have been at least 1000 stairs. I can't count that high, but I'm pretty sure he was right. Guess what though? Remember how I've been trying to show mami & papi how I'm gonna be a little adventure dog just like them? Well, I'm pretty sure they agree now since I climbed ALL of the steps by myself! That's right - all by myself!

Come on papi, let's go!

I worked really hard.

Papi even called me Super Mia. Silly him, he thinks I can fly!

We picniced along the way.....
thank goodness Sr. Greg brought me my new travel bowls!

It was so pretty the way the sunshine came down through the trees.

And of course there were other pretty things to look at too.....like me!

Life just doesn't get much better than this!
