Look friends! I found myself a fountain in Denver.

This one's almost big enough for swimming!

Colorado Girl

I'm really beginning to love this place my mami and papi call Colorado. The weather is nice and I don't find myself panting all day long! My first day here I went for a dip in a icy cold river, but it didn't bother me one bit!

Play Date!

At long last, tonight I finally met my mami's friend Toni Ann's Golden girl, Halley. Yay! She's just a few months older than me and so nice and pretty. We spent a good hour or so rolling around in the grass, having a good old time! Mami says we are gonna get together again on Friday. Yipee! I ♥ Halley!

See you soon new friend!

I'm One!

Boy oh boy, did I ever have a great birthday. It was so great that mami and papi extended it a whole extra day....and maybe more!

The day began with a very special breakfast treat. Mami says from now on, this is going to be my breakfast.....so delicious!

My regular food with a scoop of natural yogurt and ocean kelp (to keep my teeth nice!)

Afterward they gave me a present......

We're gonna call him "Ocho."

Then we packed up the car and went to Boulder to hike in Chautauqua Park. Unfortunately I had to stay on the leash since it cost $20 to get a voice and sight dog tag. Papi said the crazy rules are just another reason we folks in Denver say Boulder is a nice place to visit, but we'd never want to live there! Leash or no leash, I made the best of it. Of course it was super hot and there wasn't any water to splash in, but it was still fun to explore.

Mami was disappointed about the leash, but I told her not to worry.

Birthday belly rubs from papi!

Just call me a flower child!

We had so much fun!

When we got back to Denver mami and papi took me to a dog park. It was my first time in a park like this. The place was packed! I wasn't quite sure what to think since all the other dogs wanted to take my new bouncy Chuck It balls. The verdict is still out on whether or not I want to go back.

After a couple of stops by friends' houses, we came back home. It was late and I was dog tired. So tired in fact that we had to skip my birthday cupcakes.....well we did split one for our picnic lunch, but mami had something special planned, so we continued the celebration this morning.

We had a birthday photo shoot.
I wasn't so crazy about the hat, but I didn't mind the necklace.

Then we took the obligatory photos with the 'rents.

After some singing, we blew out the candle.

And then I chowed down!

We even made plans to visit Chattfield Reservoir dog park this afternoon but then the battery in the car died. We were all pretty disappointed, but papi promised that we'll go another day, so my birthday celebrations continue! I hope every birthday is a great as my first!

PS: I forgot to mention that my granny and grandpapi Finotti sent me a nice present too. I'm still trying to figure out how to get the treats out of the Tug-A-Jug, but thanks for thinking of me!

Guess what day it is?

Today is my Birthday!!! Today I turn 1 year old! Can you even believe that it's been one whole year (minus 6 weeks) since my mami and papi picked me out and took me home with them. We've had so many wonderful times together and I've been to so many places in my short life, what a lucky girl I am!

Today we're going to Boulder, Colorado to spend the day hiking and having fun. Mami and papi promised me all their attention today and I can't wait to be spoiled. When we get home mami says there is going to be a celebration......I can't even imagine what it will be like since I've never had a birthday before. I'll just have to wait and see!

Got my hair did!

The other night I got the royal treatment when my mami and papi took me over to Chewy's Bonetique in Lowry for a surprise. One of my loyal followers (and my mami's new friend) works there and invited us to come by. Wow! Once again, I could have never ever dreamed that a place like Chewy's ever existed....just for doggies!

My mami and papi gave me a bath with coconut shampoo and Miss Peggy gave me a blueberry facial!

It was so cool the way my parents got to stay with me and even bathe me - that way I wasn't so scared.

Next came the blow dryer. Man, I've got a lot of fur to dry. It took nearly an hour!

To tell you the truth I didn't like that part so much, but they were gentle with me and Miss Peggy kept feeding me good stuff like carrot cake and yak!

Next, I got brushed and groomed a bit. Then a cute older golden came to the shop. Her name was Shelby. She's a regular....and she's very well behaved! Her mom says that she likes to swim just as much as me.

Afterwards Miss Peggy let me sniff out a bone of my choice. I'm still working on it, over a week later! Chewy's also has lots of toys and other treats.....it's like doggie heaven! Mami says we'll go back and pick up a few things for my birthday coming up this week. I can't wait!

Cuddle Bunny

Mami and papi have told me there are lots of rules in the United States. So far there are 2 I'm not so fond of. Dogs always have to be on leashes and dogs are not allowed in the front seat.....especially on the driver's lap.

Shhhhh! Don't tell anyone, but my mami and papi are rule breakers.........and so am I!

Just one more for the road, papi!

Proud Mia

Excuse my absence blog friends, I've been so busy celebrating that I haven't had time to post lately.

You wanna know why I've been celebrating?

I've been celebrating because on July 29, 2010 I became an official American dog!!! We even had a real swearing in ceremony where I raised my right paw and promised to abide by all the rules that American dogs live by.....there are a lot of them, by the way and I'm not so sure I'm gonna like this leash law one bit!

Mami and papi spent hours and hours back in Guatemala getting my immigration papers ready, but when we got to the border those unfriendly border patrol folks didn't even bother to look at them. They didn't seem to give a hoot about me, but they didn't like my dog food - they took it away. They told my mami that because it wasn't made in the USA (I eat Canadian food) then I couldn't bring it in. They did say that I could have a 1 day supply and little do they know that I don't really eat 4 and a half cups a day like my mami said I do! Haha, jokes on you Border Patrol!!

So since that food wasn't gonna last me the whole way to Denver we made a little stop in Tucson a couple of hours later. Mami and papi took me to a place that this little Guatemalan dog never could have even dreamed would exist!

The lady at the front register welcomed me in and even offered me a treat! Then I promptly sniffed out some new food, but they didn't have my regular Akana, so I'm now eating Eukanuba for a while.

Since it was a special occasion, I even got to leave with a new toy!

A real dead duck!

That night my mami and papi continued to pamper me (and themselves) with a good night's sleep in yet another dog friendly hotel, Drury Suites.

Just chillin' on the bathroom's cool tile floors.

Livin' the life!

If this is what America is all about, I wish I would have come a whole lot sooner!

Say yes to dogs!

We've all been needing a break lately from living in our car, so we could hardly say no when we learned about a great little hotel in Tlaquepaque, Mexico that not only allows pets, but welcomes them! Considering that pretty much the rest of Mexico is scared of dogs, it was a real delight to not be treated like I'm some sort of biting machine.

The coolest part was the the owners of the hotel had their own puppy girl that lived there too. She was a jack russell we think, named Eva. That girl was such a quick little bunny that mami couldn't even get a good photo of her! She and I lived it up and chased each other around the hotel without ever getting in trouble and that made me (and mami & papi) really happy!

Thanks a bunch Casa Campos!! You're one of a kind!
