Taking the long way home

This trip has been a long one, I'll tell you that! My mami and papi have been doing most of the work though. I just lounge in the back seat, napping the day away. Sometimes I'm allowed to sneak up into the front. I start with mami but after awhile her lap gets too small, so I make my way over to papi's side. It usually doesn't last long (papi says it isn't safe), but any time at all is fine with me!

Sit girl

I've been practicing my lessons that Profi Sergio taught me back in Antigua.

First there's the "sit pretty."

Then there's the "muerto" where I play dead.
(Look closely, I even got the tongue down!)

Taking care of Mia

It's been raining quite a bit lately on our trip. Sometimes I wander about and get dirty in the process. Since mami is a nut about keeping things neat and organized, papi and I do our best to stay in line!

I lick his toes clean & he helps me with my paws!

Surfs up!

I've been living the life the past couple of days here in Sayulita. We're at the beach finally and I.love.it!

Actually, I've been a bit sick with a bad case of the scoots (TMI, I know), but the dog doctor here said it's normal for pups who aren't yet used to all the salt water.

So with a little medicine and yogurt everyday (I love that doctor), I've pretty much recovered and feel ready to hit the surf again!

Catch you on the flipside friends!

Whoa papa!

Papi thought it would be a good idea to post this photo. I can't say that I was in agreement though. He just wanted to make sure that everyone knows who is really in charge, but I told him "Duh, everyone already knows; it's mami!!"

Sort of like home

It was almost like a dream - a dream that we had finally made it back to Antigua, but alas it wasn't Antigua at all, just another town with cobblestone streets. Mami said the town was called San Miguel de Allende. It's in Mexico - not Guatemala. I think it may be a lot bigger than Antigua and also a lot hotter, but since we started out every morning in a nice park nearby our campground, I didn't mind at all. Look at how beautiful scenery was!

...oh yea, and I even squeezed in some fountain time!

Gone parking

In the midst of all of our travel, mami and papi do their best to make things fun for me. They know that I love parks, so in every single town that we pass through we spend some time in the best park it has to offer.

First we chased the kiddie cars in Xalapa.

Then in Puebla after I behaved myself for 2 hours on a city tour bus,
we hit the main city park where I messed around in the fountains!

And then a day later in Cholula,
papi and I just chilled while mami did some shopping.

As long as they keep this up, I'm game for travel with these two any time!

This dog's dream

Probably the best place that my mami and papi have ever taken me is Lago Atitilán. They've been a bunch and usually I end up staying behind, but as we were leaving Guatemala we made a surprise stop. It was just about the most fun I have ever had and to the icing on the cake was that my Tio Carlos and Tia Britt came with us!

When we got to the lake, we had to board a lancha to take up over to Jaibalito, where we stayed at this hotel call La Casa Del Mundo. A few months ago, mami and papi met the nice owner hand he said that it would be fine to bring me along as long as I didn't bark too much. Thank you so much, señor! We had our own private room, way up top, next to my tios. The fun though, happened down a the bottom at the lake.

I spent the better part of a whole day swimming and playing in the water. It was like a dream come true!!! I hope one day when we return to Guatemala, mami and papi will take me back there again........and I hope my tios can come along too!

Fit for a princess

Here I am on my throne in the back seat.

Mami and papi fixed it up real nice for me, but I'm not so sure about all of the hours that I've been spending in the car. Oh well, I guess it's the price I have to pay to become an American!

One for the road

My papi's good friend Otto stopped by the other night after going out with mami and papi. He just couldn't let me leave Guatemala without a goodbye belly rub. You see, ever since I was really little I went to work with my papi and Otto was always there too. Sometimes I got to ride around in the car with them and every once and a while I even got to visit a water system....shhh!!

Here's how it went down. They came home and I peaked my head down the stairs to see what all the commotion was about. Of course when I saw who it was, I bolted straight to him and fell down at his feet. If anybody besides my mami and papi know what I like, it's Otto. He gave me a real good belly rub and I squealed out in delight, just like I always do when Otto is around. Man, I love that guy.

Oh yea, give me more!!

Papi 's really gonna miss Otto.....and me too.

Te extrañamos tú, Otto!

Our place

The other morning right before we left the only home I know in Antigua, the three of us headed out to enjoy our special spot once more. Ever since I was a little pup, we've loved spending time hanging out in Central Park. Mami and papi people watch, while I dog watch and splash around in the fountains. I sure hope Mexico has some nice parks.....and some super nice fountains! I'm sure gonna miss our weekends in the park.

The big fountain is fenced off - no skinny dipping there!

Me and my pops doing our thing.

Say it isn't so

I can hardly bear it. I'm not exactly sure what's even going on. Our whole house is packed up. I sniff and sniff but still can't figure it out.

Mami says we're leaving - we're leaving on a road trip back to the United States. But I like it here. This is my country. This is the only home I know. These days my mami gives me lots of extra cuddles and kisses. She says not to worry. That we'll all be together. That there are lots of friends waiting for us that love us very much. I'm not so sure, but I do trust my mami. For now, I find comfort in what I know - and I certainly know our couch very well.

One last nap before we hit the road.

My BFF

It's not easy saying goodbye, especially to my best friend Ozzy. I've know Oz ever since he came home to live with mami's best friend, Abby. When he was really little I got to be his protector, but now that he's big he looks out for me too. We meet up in the park for a romp every once and a while and have play dates and sleepovers quite often. Lately since we're leaving, mami and Abby have been spending even more time together than usual, so I've gotten to see Ozzy too. A couple of weeks ago he went with us to my favorite park with me, Senderos de Alux, and then just the other day we went on a fetch date with our moms. I'm really gonna miss him and Miss Abby too. Mami says we can Skype them together, but I hope that we will get to play together again one day too.
