Baby Boy

Remember how I told you about my newest friend, Ozzy? Well mami and Papi just told me that I get to have a 4 night sleepover with him, starting tonight! M & P have to make a border run to Mexico and as much as they would like for me to come along, it's kind of a hassle to get the paperwork together just for a short trip. So instead of going to a kennel (sad) they arranged for me to stay with Seno Abby & Don Panco & their little puppydog! I'm so excited! I hope I will be ok at their house and not too sad or scared. Mami promised me that they'll be back Sunday night to get me!

Look at how much fun we had last week on our play date. Look out little guy, I'm gonna wear you out!

Amigos!

Friends are so important in our lives. At least that is what mami & papi are always telling me. And since our little family only has each other here in Guatemala, we can never have too many friends. Want to meet my best friends? Get ready, I have a lot!

Well of course there are these two.

The mami

& the papi

They are the best mami & papi a little puppy girl could ask for. They like to have fun with me, cuddle, tickle, and play, but they also make sure I don't get into trouble!

Next there are my dog pals.

My oldest & best friend, Don Akira.

Chuch, who was until recently, my only girlfriend.

Oso, a little boy who simply adores me.
Sometimes he comes to work with his papi.
His papi & my papi are best buddies.

Roofus, who lives at Earth Lodge. Sometimes he shares his bones with me.

And then there is my newest little buddy Osy. He's so wittle - just a baby!
Mami's friends Seño Abby & Don Pancho just brought him home.
I'm gonna be his protector, just like Don Akira does for me.

There's also my new friend, Maya. Who is only 3 months old.
We don't have any photos of her yet, but we will soon I hope!
Just picture a darker version of me at 2 months old, and that's Maya.
She is my mini-me!

I do have some other special friends that I can't forget about too.
They keep me company when I have to stay alone. They are all very special to me too.

First there's Mari the Mariposa, my oldest animal friend.
I got her on my first trip to the market with mami.

Then there's Guy the Gallo. He was a gift from Sol who lives in Colorado.
Guy has a squeaker inside and loves to fly around and let me catch him!

Next came Blitzer, one of Santa's reindeer! He came home with us from Xela.

And for Christmas, Santa brought me Penguino. He's really soft and cuddly!

I'd like to be your friend too.
What do you think?

Doctors & Days off

All 3 of us had the day off yesterday. Me, the mami & the papi. We were just hanging around, having fun when mami snapped this photo. It shows how much I've grown lately - I've got some droopy jowls now! In fact, I've developed a bit of a limp from all of my growing. I don't think it really hurts because I really never cry, but I do limp on my front left leg, pretty much all the time, but especially in the morning.

Since the M & P love me so very much, they got right on it and took me to my doctor, Dr. Sican at El Arco. The people there are so sweet and nice to me, and so far I don't really mind going. In fact, I think I'm one of their favorites because they know my name with I walk in the door and they always give me lots and lots of pets and attention.

Last week Dr. Sican told the M & P that sometimes large breed puppies develop a disease in their bones and/or joints. He said it happens because we grow so fast and it's more than our bones can handle. He's right. Remember when I came home at a whopping 5 lbs. and here we are about 3 months later and I'm weighing in at 36 lbs! Luckily he also told us that usually the pups outgrow this sickness when their growing slows down. I've been taking medicine for pain and inflammation and we will go back again in 1 week when they may take an x-ray of my leg. Mami is really scared for me, but I've been brave and give her lots of love to make her feel better.

So I'd like to ask all of you, my faithful readers and friends to keep me in your prayers until we figure out what is really going on with that leg of mine. But don't worry too much. I'm still a really happy puppy girl.

& I ♥ her 2!

I've been spending lots of extra time with my mami lately. Although I usually spend my days at the office with papi, mami & I bond in the evenings. She brushes me every single night, so that I'm super duper soft for petting. She plays ball with me too. Last week I got a new soft basketball that we have been having fun with. And when it's time for bed, she makes sure I'm comfy in my bed and pets me until I can't seem to keep my eyes open any longer. Then around 4 am when I'm feeling a little antsy, I come to mami's side of the bed and let her know I'm ready to cuddle. She lifts me up and I settle in right between her and papi for the rest of the night. Mami + Mia = ♥.

Bonding time

I love my papi & I want to be just like him one day. I even like to sleep just like him, right next to him. There's no place I'd rather be. Like father, like dog-ter.

Proud Mama

Hi friends, it's mami here again. I read that Mia shared with you about her adventures in Belize and her new love for swimming but I would also like to share how proud we are of our little bug! After a couple of rather intimidating swimming experiences in her younger months, Mia appeared to be rather timid around water. We could see that she was interested in it, always standing alongside batting at the waves, but needed some time to figure out her tactics!

One really hot afternoon the 3 of us were walking down the beach with Mia decided it was time. At first she entered and just swam a few feet before turning back around to the safety of shore. A little while later though, she took off on her own beelining for a buoy that was way out at sea. Papi & I were both a bit worried that she may be turn around, so papi dropped his bag, and went in after her. It turned out that she was just fine and didn't need his help at all though!

I suppose it just took a little curiosity and a whole lot of heat {our girl really panted a lot in Belize} to get her in the water, but now our little bug is quite a fish!

{And don't worry Mims, we'll make sure we find our way back to a good swimming beach again soon. You and your mami share the same love of the water!}

Check out her progress throughout the week:

Live, Love, Belize

Hi-ya everyone!

We're back from our holiday adventure vacation & I've finally found some time to fill you in on my where abouts over the past couple of weeks.
Let's start with our Christmas vacation to Belize!

Mami & papi warned me that it was going to be a long trip, but it really didn't seem so bad to me. They woke me up while it was still dark out and loaded me into Uncle Dewey but after that the next thing I remember is waking up and getting into a boat. Papi said I missed about 5 hours in the car.....oops! I guess I was still a wittle sweepy! Up until Belize I had only ever ridden in cars {and 1 scary moment on papi's bicycle} but in just 1 day I got to go in 3 different forms of transportation. Look!

Here we are waiting on the dock. I was so excited I almost jumped right off into the water! I was feeling pretty silly - just look at me sticking out my tongue at papi!

1st we went by boat....

then by bus.....

...and then again by water taxi!

While we were in Belize we stayed in a cute little cabin at Captain Jak's where the owner's were oh so nice. They didn't mind having me around at all!

I liked the front porch at our cabana the best of all. Every chance I got I layed out there and watched the birds. Papi says now I'm a porch dog. He's gonna make sure our forever house has a really good one.

My least favorite part were the hot, humid nights. Mami didn't think it was too bad, but she doesn't have nearly the amount of hair that I do! It rained for a day or so and we were stuck in the house, so one night mami wrote a special note to Santa to ask if he could come to our cabin a couple of days early & guess what??? He did! He brought me another animal friend, Penguino, and a delicious bone that I finished off that very day!

On Christmas day we took a short little bus ride to Maya Beach {i think they may have stolen my middle name, but i don't really mind} and played on the beach there. Mami & papi had some good eats and even shared another special bone with me.

Every single day during our vacation we played on the beach. I think I may love sand even more than I love grass! Of course I made a couple of friends of my own kind too. Those street dogs just flock to me! No wonder I can't seem to shake my fleas! He and I played and played and played and played until I was too tired to walk home. Good thing my papi is strong enough to carry me!

I played so hard everyday that I needed to do quite a bit of napping too. Hey, vacations are for relaxing, right?

At Captain Jak's we met a really great family who had kids that just ate me right up! They even took me out on their boat for a ride. It was sweeeeeet!

This is my new friend Caley. She is so nice. I think she might be a dog whisperer!

I've decided I just love boats! I'm gonna try real hard to be a very good puppy girl for the next whole year and maybe Santa will bring us one!

There was one real scary moment in Belize when I got a little too curious for my own good with a hermit crab. He clamped onto my tongue for about 15 minutes. It was so scary. Mami helped me stay calm while papi tried to get him off, but he just wouldn't budge. Finally I took matters into my own paws and shook him off. I definitely learned my lesson! I know what curiosity did to the cat....thank goodness I'm a dog.

Just a little bit after the crab episode we went to Yoly's. The kids were there for me to play with and mami made sure we got a family photo for my blog. I had so much fun that I forgot all about my hurting tongue.

My proudest moment by far though was perfecting my swimming skills. At first I was a little scared, but by the end of the week I was doggie paddlin' all over the place!

I could tell that mami & papi were so proud of me! I sure hope we get to go swimming again in a great place like Belize!
